\n\tNew Installations Downloaded Directly from the ExtraView Website<\/h3>\n

If you are using the standard ExtraView product, downloaded directly from our website installation is very simple and includes all the components required for a fully functioning system, including a database. Just follow the download instructions.<\/p>\n

\n\tExtraView Installed with your own Server and Database<\/h3>\n

\n\tConfiguration<\/h3>\n

This Administrator\u2019s Guide covers the design of your system and how to provide the features you need for your company. Briefly, the tasks that need to be accomplished are as follows. Note that many of the tasks do not need to be performed in sequence, but can be executed in an arbitrary order.<\/p>\n

  • \n\t\tInstall the license key provided by ExtraView<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCreate a user account with administrative privileges for your own use<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tSet up a small number of global behavior settings. These will be the foundation to the successful running of ExtraView in your environment<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tConfigure any special connectivity needs to remote databases, such as LDAP or Active Directory for remote directory services and \/ or SSO for single sign on authorization<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDefine and create the user defined fields in your system, that will complement the inbuilt fields<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDefine the relationships between record types and fields, such as how different record types are related and where parent child-relationships exist between list values<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDefine and implement the various user roles, or categories of users who will access the system<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDesign and lay out screens to support the fields you create<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tCreate a structure of permissions that support access to each screen for each user role that was defined<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tSet up the workflow that will control the processes in your company. For complex workflows this may involve the design and programming of customized \u201cuser exit\u201d routines, written in the Java or JavaScript languages<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tDesign standard reports that will be \u201cpublic\u201d for your users<\/li>\n
  • \n\t\tAdd user accounts to the system<\/li>\n
