Write permission to this key is needed by the user role, for attachments to be able to be created or maintained. If there is no read permission, the attachment layout is not visible. This field is the only field that should be placed on reports where you want to display attachments, such as the detailed report. The remaining fields for the attachment will be placed onto the report by ExtraView, according to whether the field has read permission. When you have read permission to attachments on reports, a View attachment button is automatically placed on the report, allowing you to view the contents of all attachments to an issue directly.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_ADD<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis controls the Add button for attachments. Write access is needed to control this.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_DELETE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis is to enable and disable the delete attachment button.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tA <strong>Delete<\/strong> button is also placed at the top of the attachment layout, if attachments exist and the ATTACH_SELECT button is placed on the layout and the user role has permission to this field.&nbsp; This allows you to select multiple attachments and delete them with a single action.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_EDIT<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tControls whether a user role may edit the attachment description of a previously uploaded attachment. Write permission is needed for this<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_HIST<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tControls the presence of a History button on the edit screen within the attachment. This button presents a window with a layout defined in the layout editor and named ATTACHMENT_HISTORY, which presents the historic records showing the updates and accesses to attachments. Normally, this layout is defined in the global area, and inherited by all business areas and projects.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_VIEW<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tControls whether a user role may view a previously uploaded attachment. Once again, you cannot write to this field, and its presence or absence is controlled with the read flag.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_THUMBNAIL<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis previews the attachments of image types (JPG, PNG and GIF) at a small size, in order that the user may see the image while they are inserting and updating issues, as well as seeing the field on reports when they are looking at attachment records.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3>\n\tFields<\/h3>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\" cellspacing=\"2\" class=\"border\">\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"tableHeaderRow\">\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tField Name<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tPurpose<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_CHANGE_TYPE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment.&nbsp; This will show whether the attachment was inserted, viewed or deleted<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_CONTENT_TYPE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed to display the Mime type of the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_CREATED_BY_USER<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe user who inserted the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_DATE_CREATED<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe timestamp of when the attachment was created<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_FILE_DESC<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe user supplied description of the attaachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_FILE_NAME<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe file name of the attachment as it existed when it as uploaded<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_FILE_SIZE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe file size, in bytes, of the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_HIST_TIMESTAMP<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment.&nbsp; This field shows when the change to the attachment occurred or the attachment was viewed<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_LAST_DATE_UPDATED<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment.&nbsp; This field shows when the change to the attachment occurred<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_LAST_UPDATED_BY_USER<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment.&nbsp; This shows who last changed the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_LAST_UPDT_COMPANY<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment.&nbsp;&nbsp; This shows the company name of the user who last viewed or updated the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_PATH<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe path to the attachment from the computer that uploaded the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_SELECT<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis field controls the presence of a checkbox by each attachment, allowing the user to select one or more attachments for further operations, such as deleting them<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACH_THUMBNAIL<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tA thumbnail of attachments with an image type.&nbsp; A behavior setting named <code>THUMBNAIL_MAX_SIZE<\/code> controls the maximum size of the thumnail images.&nbsp; Users may click on the thumbnail image to view \/ download the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_ID<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe internal ID of the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_EDIT<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tA button that allows the user to edit \/ delete the attachment<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_SAVE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tUsed within a fixed layout displayed when the user clicks the ATTACHMENT_VIEW button to show the history of accesses to the attachment. This allows the user to save their changes<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tATTACHMENT_VIEW<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis places a <strong>View <\/strong>button on the screen.&nbsp; When pressed, the user will either see the attachment in a new window, or will be prompted to save the attachment on their local computer<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3>\n\tAdd &amp; Edit Layouts<\/h3>\n<p>There is a default layout in the Global Area, Master Project that defines the layout for file&nbsp;attachments.&nbsp; This layout is named ATTACHMENT_SECTION.&nbsp; This may be embedded within any <em>add <\/em>or <em>edit<\/em> layout.&nbsp; Before any alterations, this looks like the following:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/fields_and_layouts\/default-attachment-layout.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The security permission keys PR_ADD_PROBLEM.ATTACHMENT and PR_RESOLUTION.ATTACHMENT control the overall visibility of the layout, and the&nbsp;following security permissions control the ability to place attachments from within the <em>add <\/em>and <em>edit <\/em>screen layouts. Security permission entries exist for both the PR_ADD_PROBLEM set of keys and the PR_RESOLUTION set of keys, except for ATTACHMENT_DELETE, ATTACHMENT_EDIT, ATTACHMENT_HIST, and ATTACHMENT_VIEW which only exist for the PR_RESOLUTION set of keys.<\/p>\n<h4>\n\tRecommendation<\/h4>\n<p>If you are configuring mobile layouts, consider saving the ATTACHMENT_SECTION layout as a mobile layout and removing fields which are going to clutter up small screens, especially on phone targets.&nbsp; You can configure the fields on the layout vertically as opposed to horizontally, similar to this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/fields_and_layouts\/attachment-layout-phone.png\" style=\"width: 35%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Multiple attachments can be added to issues, on both the <em>add<\/em> screen and the <em>edit<\/em> screen, if the user role has permission.&nbsp; Note the <strong>Select?<\/strong> checkbox on <em>add<\/em> and <em>edit screens.<\/em> The presence of this is made by adding the ATTACH_SELECT field to the attachment layout.&nbsp; With this configuration, a <strong>Delete<\/strong> button will also be displayed, and the user can select any of the attachments then press the <strong>Delete<\/strong> button.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note that if an attachment is added to an issue when you are updating an issue, the issue itself is immediately updated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/fields_and_layouts\/portion_edit_attachments2.png\" style=\"width: 90%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"imageCaption\">Portion of edit screen showing attachments<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/fields_and_layouts\/portion_detailed_report_attachments2.png\" style=\"width: 90%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"imageCaption\">Portion of detailed report showing attachments<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A behavior setting named <span class=\"fixedWidthFont\">THUMBNAIL_MAX_SIZE <\/span>controls the size of the thumbnail. This is the maximum number of pixels in either the horizontal or vertical direction to which thumbnail images will be generated. The aspect ratio of the original image will be retained. Thumbnail images are generated for file attachments and for fields with a display type of image. If you change this value, existing thumbnail images will remain at their original size and new thumbnails will be generated at the changed value.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\tDetailed Report Layouts<\/h3>\n<p>You should not embed the ATTACHMENT_SECTION layout within Detailed Report layouts.&nbsp; Instead, there is a field with special properties, named ATTACHMENT.&nbsp; This field should be placed on the Detailed Report layout.&nbsp; You then can control the presence or absence of the individual fields that comprise the attachment information with their security permission key.&nbsp; This leads to a layout for detailed reports that looks similar to this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/fields_and_layouts\/detailed-report-attachment.png\" style=\"width: 90%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/attachments\/\">Click for end user documentation<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Click for end user documentation Security Permission Keys Field\/Security permission key Purpose ATTACHMENT This key controls the overall ability to create attachments.
