It allows instant access to the main functions of ExtraView. The navigation bar may be customized to any one of a large number of themes, so the following screenshots are representative of the functions as opposed to the color, size and location of the elements. Not all of the elements may be present in your installation as they depend on permissions and the configuration that your administrator has created.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/navigation_bar_horizontal2.png\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Navigation Buttons<\/h3>\n<p>This list shows the standard buttons within the horizontal navigation bar.\u00a0 Your administrator may have configured different buttons, with different purposes and different titles on the navigation bar.\u00a0 This includes the presentation of a navigation bar that has &#8220;drop-down&#8221; selections.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Home<\/b>: The user\u2019s personal Home page<\/li>\n<li><b>Add<\/b>: Allows users to enter new issues into the database<\/li>\n<li><b>Query<\/b>: Allows users to search the database<\/li>\n<li><b>Report<\/b>: Allows users to create and run reports<\/li>\n<li><b>Workspace<\/b>: Opens a workspace window where you can perform many ExtraView tasks in a single window<\/li>\n<li><b>Admin or Administration<\/b>: Allows Administrative users to configure ExtraView for the entire organization. As a user you may not have access to this area of ExtraView <b>Help<\/b>: Allows users to access ExtraView\u2019s online help system<\/li>\n<li><b>Sign Off<\/b>: Click the <b>Sign Off<\/b> button to log out and return ExtraView to the Sign On screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Other Elements<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b>Drilldown Box<\/b>: This is a Search box that allows you to enter either keywords or issue ID&#8217;s to retrieve matches.\u00a0 The following rules apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You may enter a single issue ID, or multiple issue ID&#8217;s.\u00a0 Separate multiple issue ID&#8217;s with a semi-colon character.\u00a0 If there are no results, ExtraView will attempt to treat the issue ID&#8217;s as words and look for these as text<\/li>\n<li>You may enter any single word or multiple words.\u00a0 ExtraView treats these as Quickfind queries and\u00a0fetches the results<\/li>\n<li>If you start your entry with a # character, then the search can be complex.\u00a0 Please see the <a href=\"v25\/keyword-searching-1\/\">Quickfind documentation <\/a>for full instructions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Account<\/b>: Your name that you are signed on with appears on the navigation bar. This is also a link to your personal options. Clicking on your name accesses your personal options<\/p>\n<p><b>Roles<\/b>: Provided you have access to more than one user role, you will see a select list which contains all the roles you may adopt. When you select a new role, you are taken to the Home Page, and your role is reset<\/p>\n<p><b>Business Areas \/ Projects<\/b>: Provided you have access to more than one Business Area and\/or Project, you will see a select list which contains all the Business Areas and Projects you may adopt. When you select a new Business Area and\/or Project, you are taken to the Home Page, and your current Business Area and\/or Project is reset<\/p>\n<p><b>Report List<\/b>: If your administrator has turned this feature on, you will see a list of public and personal reports that you may run. Simply select the report you want to run from the list and a new window will open with the results of the report<\/p>\n<p><b>Menubar<\/b>: This is a set of buttons that will alter as you alter the page you are viewing in ExtraView. It will offer a range of options that is relevant to the screen you are looking at.<\/p>\n<p class=\"textGreyBg\"><b>Note<\/b>: Button names and the name of the ID within the ExtraView Menu frame may be altered to reflect your company\u2019s terminology. Your Administrator can also choose to display the ExtraView Menu as a horizontal screen menu, if this is preferred.<\/p>\n<h3>Personal Options<\/h3>\n<p>Click on your name in the navigation bar to access your personal options on the <b>Change a user\u2019s details screen<\/b>. See <a href=\"v25\/managing-your-personal-options-1\/\">this page<\/a> for details on how you manage your personal options.<\/p>\n<h3>Roles<\/h3>\n<p>On the navigation bar, you may also have a list of roles that are available for you to adopt. This list of roles is the ones that the administrator allows you to adopt for different purposes. For example, you might have several roles, each corresponding to the use of a different Business Area. Simply click on the role you wish to adopt. If you have only been enabled for a single role, you will not find any links on this list, and you will not be able to change your role.<\/p>\n<h3>Business Areas and Projects<\/h3>\n<p>If this is enabled as an option on your navigation bar, then this list offers you the ability to move into a new Business Area and a corresponding Project. Depending on the configuration, you may or may not see this select list, or you may only see Business Areas and not Projects. The only Business Areas and Projects which will be visible will be those to which the Administrator has granted you access.<\/p>\n<h3>Reports<\/h3>\n<p>There may also be a list of reports that you can run from the navigation bar. If this is present, simply select a report from the list and this will be run immediately.<\/p>\n<h2>Gateway Navigation<\/h2>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"2\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 304px; vertical-align: top;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 243.188px;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/gateway2.png\" \/><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">Your administrator will need to have configured this option for it to be available.\u00a0 It offers an alternative style of navigation, and with some additional capabilities.The Gateway navigation may contain the same selections as the horizontal interface.\u00a0 In addition, it may contain links to your personal and shared Home Pages, if more than one has been configured.\u00a0 There may also be links to your personal and shared Workspaces, if these have been configured.The Gateway interface allows you to define links to other applications and Internet sites.\u00a0 These are controlled via one of the buttons at the bottom left of the navigation bar.\u00a0 There are also buttons to access your personal options and to access Help.The Gateway interface may be configured with some or all of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Search Drilldown Box<\/strong>: This allows you to enter text or issue numbers.\u00a0 This will search the entire database for the terms or issues you enter<\/li>\n<li><b>Home<\/b>: This button takes you back to your Home Gateway page, or refreshes your Gateway Home page.\u00a0 The reports that appear on the Gateway Home are selected with the report lists at the bottom of the screen<\/li>\n<li><b>Add<\/b>: Allows users to enter new issues into the database.\u00a0 Note that this may be configured with a sub-menu to allow you to add different types of issues, typically within different Business Areas or Projects<\/li>\n<li><b>Query<\/b>: Allows users to search the database<\/li>\n<li><b>Report<\/b>: Allows users to create and run reports<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personal Home Pages<\/strong>: Opens previously saved Home Pages in a new browser tab that you have saved<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shared Home Pages<\/strong>: Opens previously saved Home Pages in a new browser tab that have been saved for all users.\u00a0 You may or may not have been granted permission by the administrator to save shared home pages<\/li>\n<li><b>Personal Workspaces<\/b>: Opens workspace windows where you can perform many ExtraView tasks in a single window.\u00a0 Whenever you save a personal workspace, it will appear within this menu option<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shared Workspaces<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0Opens workspace windows where you can perform many ExtraView tasks in a single window.\u00a0 Whenever you save a shared workspace (assuming you have permission), it will appear within this menu option for all users<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personal Links<\/strong>: These are links to reports, other ExtraView sites or other software applications that you have saved as shortcuts.\u00a0 See below for information on how to set these up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shared Links<\/strong>: These are shared links to reports, other ExtraView sites or other software applications that the administrator has saved as shortcuts<\/li>\n<li><b>Admin or Administration<\/b>: Allows Administrative users to configure ExtraView for the entire organization. As a user you may not have access to this area of ExtraView\u00a0<b>Help<\/b>: Allows users to access ExtraView\u2019s online help system<\/li>\n<li><b>Sign Off<\/b>: Click the\u00a0<b>Sign Off<\/b>\u00a0button to log out and return ExtraView to the Sign On screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"2\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top; width: 75px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 29px; width: 75px;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/my-links.png\" \/><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">This option allows you to define personal links that appear within the navigation of the Gateway.\u00a0 These are shortcuts that allow you to place a link to a report, or a link to a second ExtraView installation, or a link to a third-party application on your Gateway menu.When this is clicked, you will see a dialog similar to the following:<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 80%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/personal-links.png\" \/>The different actions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Run Report<\/strong>: Provide a name for the link and select the report you wish to place on the link from the list of reports<\/li>\n<li><strong>External ExtraView Site<\/strong>: This option allows you to enter the address of a second ExtraView site to which you want to create a link.\u00a0 When you enter an address to a second site, you should request an access token for that site.\u00a0 This will bring up the sign on screen for the second site, where you will enter your sign on credentials.\u00a0 This results in a token being provided to the first ExtraView site so that when you click on the saved link, you will not need to sign on again to the remote site for the unexpired duration of the token that was provided.\u00a0 This is a secure mechanism that negates the need to sign on each time you access the remote site, but does not require your password to be sent to the remote site for each access you make. For security reasons, this mechanism only works with https connections to your server, not with http.\u00a0 However, if you want to take advantage of what is termed as a redirect configured within the web server, from http to https, then this is allowable, as long as the remainder of the address is the same.\u00a0 The address you select is not the fully qualified address of the ExtraView site.\u00a0 It is the address of the domain plus the ExtraView servlet only.\u00a0 For example, if your site is:<br \/>\n<strong>https:\/\/www.mycompany.com\/evj\/ExtraView<br \/>\n<\/strong>then the address you will use is:<br \/>\n<strong>https:\/\/www.mycompany.com\/evj<br \/>\n<\/strong>For security reasons, ExtraView will not allow a redirect from an address on one domain to a different domain.\u00a0 For the remote site, you can further set a destination of whether you should land on its Home Page, an Add issue page or run a report.<\/li>\n<li><strong>External Application<\/strong>: This allows you to place a button within the Gateway navigation which will open up any web-based software to which you have access.\u00a0 This allows you to configure your Gateway as a central point and create shortcuts to drive access to all your corporation&#8217;s applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 29px; width: 75px;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/my-account.png\" \/><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">This option allows you to access your personal account details<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 29px; width: 75px;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/help.png\" \/><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">This option brings up the ExtraView Help screen<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a href=\"v25\/creating-alternative-navigation-bars-1\/\">Click here for administrative documentation<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ExtraView main navigation bar appears at the top of most screens throughout the application.
