{"id":23752,"date":"2024-02-15T14:53:34","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T22:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/docs.extraview.com\/v25\/book\/importing-issues-add-or-edit-screen-0\/"},"modified":"2025-03-04T09:01:24","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T17:01:24","slug":"importing-issues-add-or-edit-screen-0","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/docs.extraview.com\/v25\/extraview-25\/end-user-guide-1\/managing-issues-1\/importing-issues-add-or-edit-screen-0\/","title":{"rendered":"Importing Issues from an Add or Edit Screen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"v25\/file-import-issue-data-1\">Click for administrative information<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of your workflow, you may have the ability to upload a batch issues, directly from an <em>add<\/em> or <em>edit<\/em> screen.\u00a0 Your administrator will have configured a button on the screen to initiate this capability.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation, you will have prepared a spreadsheet and saved this with a file type of <strong>.csv<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>csv<\/strong> stands for comma separated values.\u00a0 Typically, you will have used Microsoft Excel to prepare this file, and your administrator will have given you instructions on how to prepare this file, using the first row of the spreadsheet to define the fields of data, and all subsequent rows to contain the issues you are importing.\u00a0 As an example, your issues in Excel may look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 90%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/import-data-excel.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The data within the <strong>.csv<\/strong> file will then look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 90%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/import-data-csv.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Within the <em>add<\/em> or <em>edit<\/em> screen, you will click the button your administrator has configured, and you will see a popup window asking you to provide the name of the file to upload.\u00a0 Once you provide this, the screen will look like this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 90%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/import-popup.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, click the <strong>Validate import file<\/strong> button to ensure there are no mistakes in your file.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 90%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/import-validate.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you have errors in your file, they are displayed on the screen.\u00a0 You may choose to ignore these, but the issues in error will not be uploaded to the database.\u00a0 You can correct the errors and start the process again.\u00a0 To facilitate the handling of the errors you can click the <strong>Download Errors<\/strong> button and correct these on your computer.\u00a0 Click <strong>Return<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>Now click the <strong>Perform Import<\/strong> button and your issues will be inserted into the database:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 90%;\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ug\/part_one\/import-complete.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Return<\/strong> to the main screen once this is complete.\u00a0 If your administrator configured a report that displays the issues you just uploaded, you will see this on the screen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Click for administrative information As part of your workflow, you may have the ability to upload a batch issues, directly from an add or edit screen.\u00a0 Your administrator will have configured a button on the screen to initiate this capability.
