The navigation buttons that are presented may be different, according to a number of criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tButtons may be made visible \/ invisible by using security permission keys for user roles<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThe button styles are determined by the user interface theme<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tDifferent navigation bars may be set up for different roles within the system. With this feature, different navigation bars within the system may also have different button styles for the different roles<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThere are two distinct configurations for the navigation bar.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tThe first places the <strong>User Account<\/strong> access, the <strong>User Role<\/strong> selection and the <strong>Report Selection<\/strong> lists visible at all times:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/navigation_bar\/navbar2.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\" \/><\/p>\n<ul class=\"rteindent1\">\n<li>\n\t\tThe second places the <strong>User Account<\/strong> access, the <strong>User Role<\/strong> selection and the <strong>Report Selection<\/strong> lists within a <strong>Menu<\/strong> navigation bar button.&nbsp; The options appear when the user clicks on the <strong>Menu<\/strong> button.&nbsp; This configuration lends itself to allowing the user access to multiple independent Home Pages, as well as providing a cleaner look on the screen:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/v25\/extraview-media\/images\/ag\/navigation_bar\/navbar-multiple-homes.png\" style=\"width: 100%;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The configuration of the different navigation bar styles is achieved with the following security permission settings:<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\" cellspacing=\"2\" style=\"width:100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr bgcolor=\"#eee\">\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Permission key<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\t<strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\tMENU_MULTIPLE_HOME_PAGES<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\tWhen these permission keys are set to N \/ N for a role, this provides the first configuration.&nbsp; When set to Y \/ Y, the <strong>Menu<\/strong> button is placed on the navigation bar and the <strong>User Account<\/strong> access, the <strong>User Role<\/strong> selection and the <strong>Report Selection<\/strong> lists are placed within a dropdown selection box beneath the <strong>Menu<\/strong> button<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\tMENU.EV_NAV_BAR_BUTTON_HOME_CTRL<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top;\">\n\t\t\t\tThis controls the presence of the <strong>Menu<\/strong> button on the navigation bar<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The components of the navigation bar are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tYour company logo<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tNavigation buttons. The <b>Home<\/b>, <b>Help<\/b>, and <b>Sign Off<\/b> buttons are always present. The <b>Add<\/b>, <b>Query<\/b>, <b>Report<\/b>, <b>Workspace<\/b> and <b>Admin<\/b> buttons are present if the user&#8217;s current role has permission to see and use these buttons<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThe Menu button is present depending upon the configuration explained above<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tThe user\u2019s name with a link to their personal account information<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tA reports list from which the user may execute reports to which they have permission<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tA list from which the user can alter their current role<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tA list from which the user can alter their current business area and \/ or project<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tA drilldown box into which a user can enter one or more ID&#8217;s and drilldown into these issues<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tA contextual menubar beneath the main navigation buttons. The buttons that appear on the menubar are dependent upon the page you are visiting. The menubar also has the name of the screen. The position of the buttons and the screen name can be switched with the behavior setting named MENU_BUTTON_POSITION.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To aid the configuration of the navigation bar, there are several behavior settings in the Display category, as follows:<\/p>\n<table class=\"border\">\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"tableHeaderRow\">\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tBehavior setting<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tPurpose<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tNAV_BAR_DISPLAY<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis is a key behavior setting.&nbsp; If it set to a value of IMAGE, then traditional image files will be used to display the buttons on the navigation bar.&nbsp; There are approximately 10 sets of images provided.&nbsp; When the setting has a value of STYLE, then HTML and CSS are used to generate the navigation bar buttons.&nbsp; These do not require image editors and can be style in an endless variety of styles and colors.&nbsp; It is recommended that the STYLE value is selected<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tNAV_BAR_DRILLDOWN_BOX_STYLE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe CSS style to be applied to the table containing the drilldown box on the navigation bar. This is only used when the MENU_DIRECTION is set to HORIZONTAL with horizontal style navigation bars and is used to alter the position of the drilldown box for different styles of navigation bar. Most frequently, you can position the drilldown box in an absolute position on the navigation bar, but you can also use effects such as altering the background-color to change the presentation of the control<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tNAV_BAR_LOGO_STYLE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis style is used to position the CompanyLogo.gif on the navigation bar, when the MENU_DIRECTION is set to HORIZONTAL<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tNAV_BAR_STYLE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis allows you to apply a CSS style to the navigation bar buttons.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tNAV_BAR_GO_BUTTON<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis places a Go button onto the navigation bar by the drilldown box<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tLOGO_STYLE<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis is an optional CSS style that is applied to the ExtraViewLogo.gif image on the navigation bar if the MENU_DIRECTION is set to HORIZONTAL.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tMENU_TEXT_COLOR<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThis allows you to select the color of text of the select lists on the navigation bar, to ensure a contrasting color to the background<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The following security permission keys control the ability for a user role to edit \/ alter their access to the options in the title bar:<\/p>\n<table class=\"border\">\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"tableHeaderRow\">\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tMenu Bar Entry<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tControl<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tAccount<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe CF_PERSONAL_OPTIONS controls access to the user\u2019s account details and options. If the user\u2019s role has only read access to this key, then the user name will appear in the title bar, but they are not able to drill down into the personal options screen. Write permission is needed in order to be able to drill down into the personal options screen<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tReports<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe SR_MENUBAR_REPORTS security permission key controls the presence of this entry on the navigation bar. It is worth noting that if you have an installation where each user has access to many hundreds of reports, there is a noticeable amount of time needed to generate this list, each time the user hits a button that navigates to a new screen. In this case, the recommendation is to turn this permission key off, and have the users reach reports via the Query button on the navigation bar. This one additional mouse click may save them one or more seconds each time they move to a new screen.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tRole<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tIf the user has only a single role defined, this title bar entry will not appear. If the user may adopt two or more roles, this entry appears and the user can drill down to a screen to alter their current role<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td nowrap=\"nowrap\" valign=\"top\">\n\t\t\t\tArea and Project<\/td>\n<td>\n\t\t\t\tThe security permission keys named CF_AREA and CF_PROJECT control access to whether the user\u2019s role may alter their current business area and project<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This page discusses the overall display components of the navigation bar.&nbsp; Look at the following pages for details of how the individual navigation bar buttons are configured and styled.
